Spectrum Noir's October Challenge has started...

Hello there,

A quick post from me to let you all know that its October (anyone else feel this year has run away!) and so that means a new Challenge with Spectrum Noir

Entering couldn't be easier, just head over to the Facebook page HERE
Under the header, click on 'contest' and fill in the form, attach your pic and add a little description of what you've used to make it.
Just remember, you have to use at least one Spectrum Noir product to enter.

Here's my design team inspiration for you with this months theme that is...
Create with Grey and or Orange

FRONT OF BOOKMARK

BACK OF BOOKMARK

As my twins headed to college (post 16) a lot of books were in their future so I made them book marks with a difference!
This is a full A6 tent fold card with a pocket on the back so they can add the page marker sticky notes, so they are nice and handy.

Of course I added a couple of inspiration journalling cards because I just can't help myself when using Graphic 45! lol

Inside is a magnet that holds the bookmark tight shut when on the page, see the pics below xxx

Here's what I used:
Style: Tent fold magnetic bookmark (with back pocket)
Image: Saturated Canary – Bookworm
Spectrum Noir markers:
Skin: TN3, FS9, 4, 2, CR3
Hair: OR2, 3, EB3, 7
Clothes: IG1, 2, 4, 6, 9, True Black
Others: TB1, 2, 3, CR2, 3, 4,
Plus orange and brown fine liners
Materials:
Crafter’s Companion Matt Black card
Neenah Solar White
Collal All Purpose glue, Crafter’s Companion red liner tape

Graphic 45 paper pad – Typography; magnetic strips
Sentiment - Ginger's House

More pics...

Reading is SO important and I love how I've managed to instill in my children that the computer and e-stuff cannot replace the feeling of curling up and loosing yourself in a book, turning the 'physical' pages and that excitment of needing to know what happens next.

Don't forget to enter the challenge...

Happy hugs

Decades - 40's Fashion all in Pinks

Well, and a little Purple! lol

Hello there,

One of the great things about being on the Spectrum Noir Education Design Team (and there are many many many great things about being on the team!) is that we take time once per month to go back over our team mates tutorials and pick one to follow.  It's such an awesome thing to do, I love it, it really gives me a chance to breath, follow the advice and I always learn something about my own style and how I approach colour :D

This month I decided to follow an awesome tutorial by my colleague, the uber colourist Laine Webb which you can find on the Spectrum Noir Blog HERE and here's mine using Laine's colours and tutorial:

Phew...I'm not a pink kinda person, so this was a real challenge :D
Here's what I used:
Copy and Inspired by a Tutorial by Laine Webb:
Style: A6 Tent Card
Image: Saturated Canary – 40’s Fashion
Spectrum Noir Markers:
Skin: FS2, 4, 6, 9, TN2
Hair: BP1, 2. 3, 5, DR7
Clothes: PL1, 2, 3, 5
Materials:
Neenah Solar White card; Crafter’s Companion Matt Black card;
Collal All Purpose glue;

Other: White Versamark ink; Sentiment stamp – Little Darlings Rubber Stamps Vintage Words; Corner Punch.

Here's more pics, I mounted her simply as she's so colourful I thought you know what, let her speak for herself!

I hope you pop over to the Spectrum Noir blog and check out Laine's tutorial, and have a look around as there are many many more awesome tutorials there...I'm off to pick which one I'd like to try for next month!

Hugs,

Mama's Boy...

Hello there,

It's September!  Where is this year going!  Anyhoo, the first of the month means we can share the start of a new challenge over on the Spectrum Noir Blog

The theme this month is 'Embossing' - it can be either wet or dry embossing and the only rule is you must use a Spectrum product in your make, that's it!  So you can go crazy with your Spectrum Noirs, Spectrum Aqua Markers, Aqua Tints or Spectrum Pencils

Here's my Design Team inspiration:

I seem to be firmly routed in the CAS style of late!  Who knew I'd love it so much!  I was pleased with how this turned out, but I am still a little unhappy that I stuck the 'smile' die cut at the top!  I think it was way better before I stuck it there, but I couldn't get it off without ruining it so there it is.

Here's what I used to make it:
1.
Medium: Spectrum Noir markers
Skin: TN3. FS2. 9, 7, CR2
Hair: EB2, 6, 7, 8
Clothes: BGR 1, 3, 4, 5, DR7, CR7
Shoes: IG1, 5, 7, True Black

Image: Saturated Canary – It’s A Spring Thing: Mama’s Boy

Crafter’s Companion Matt Black card
Linen Texture card
Embossing folder: Craftwell Teresa Collins Just Words A4 folder

Easy Crystals, Distress Ink, Black Momento Ink
Die'namics Blueprint die set

Here's some more pic's

Don't forget to hop over to the Spectrum Noir Blog to join the Monthly challenges

Thank you so much for stopping by and please do leave me a comment, I love to read all your feedback x

A present I can now share...The perfect image by Saturated Canary

Hello again,

Another post Christmas share from me today...and a much shorted write up you'll be pleased to know lol

This one was a Christmas present for my step-daughter as she has recently moved to a whole new town, new job, miles away to move in with her fabulous girlfriend Rachel.

We are so proud of them both that I wanted to make something special for their first home together.

The totally awesome Krista from Saturated Canary then posted a new image called Freedom and that was it...totally perfect :D

I coloured her with my Graph'it Markers, cut her square on white 300gsm super smooth paper (from That Craft Place) and then put her in a 15x15 cm box frame.

The box frame gave me the room to add the 'junk' as I like to call it from my stash.  Flowers, lace, pearls, well you'll see in the pics.

I added the name of the image by hand as I wanted them to know it was from the heart and that was it xx

Here's the pics...

Thank you so much for stopping by at this busy time of year and crafty hugs to you xx

Happy Crafting :D
