Hello There,

Well its February so the challenge over on the Spectrum Noir FaceBook page

A Birdie told me.....With Spectrum Sparkle!

Hello there,

I hope your Christmas was a relaxed and joy filled day :D  Here at Gough Tower's all went well, better than that the kids faces were just mwaaaahhhhh!  They loved their presents and that s a job well done, onwards we go!  I know all you parents will totally get that lol

So, just wanted to pop in and share a little Sparkle with you, its a sample I made using the new Crafter's Companion new sparkly pens - the Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens

Now, it turns out the 'sparkle' is totally unbelievable hard to take pics of, so this is pic heavy, sorry...but I wanted to try and show the sparkle lol

The stamps are brand new Spectrum Noir stamps launched with the Sparkle pens, they have large spaces so different techniques can be used with lots of sparkle xxx

All the colours used are in the Spring Summer 12 pen set, and all are lush pastel shades.  You may have noticed that the colours here are a little darker, well, that's because I coloured these ones on Neenah Desert Storm Kraft Card!

Totally show's just how rich in pigment these goreous pens are right!

NOW....I did the same card...on Neenah Solar White Card!

Hope you can see the comparison?  So hard to take pics of sparkle!

Anyway's here's the materials list:
Style: A5 Landscape Easel card
Owl stamp – A6 Stamp set (new launch)
Masked eyes to change expression
Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens – Spring/Summer 12 set
Pink Champagne, Rose Quarts, Blue Topaz, Soft Jade
Crafter’s Companion Textures Embossing folder –Stone Wall
Die’sire Kimono Blossom Branch die set
Crafter’s Companion Matt Black card
1st set of pics Crafter's Companion Neenah Desert Storm Kraft Card
2nd set of pics is Crafter’s Companion Neenah Crest Solar White card

Collal All Purpose & 3D glues

Thank you all so much for stopping by, especially at this busy holiday time.  I hope that you have enjoyed your visit :D

Hugs

Decades - 40's Fashion all in Pinks

Well, and a little Purple! lol

Hello there,

One of the great things about being on the Spectrum Noir Education Design Team (and there are many many many great things about being on the team!) is that we take time once per month to go back over our team mates tutorials and pick one to follow.  It's such an awesome thing to do, I love it, it really gives me a chance to breath, follow the advice and I always learn something about my own style and how I approach colour :D

This month I decided to follow an awesome tutorial by my colleague, the uber colourist Laine Webb which you can find on the Spectrum Noir Blog HERE and here's mine using Laine's colours and tutorial:

Phew...I'm not a pink kinda person, so this was a real challenge :D
Here's what I used:
Copy and Inspired by a Tutorial by Laine Webb:
Style: A6 Tent Card
Image: Saturated Canary – 40’s Fashion
Spectrum Noir Markers:
Skin: FS2, 4, 6, 9, TN2
Hair: BP1, 2. 3, 5, DR7
Clothes: PL1, 2, 3, 5
Materials:
Neenah Solar White card; Crafter’s Companion Matt Black card;
Collal All Purpose glue;

Other: White Versamark ink; Sentiment stamp – Little Darlings Rubber Stamps Vintage Words; Corner Punch.

Here's more pics, I mounted her simply as she's so colourful I thought you know what, let her speak for herself!

I hope you pop over to the Spectrum Noir blog and check out Laine's tutorial, and have a look around as there are many many more awesome tutorials there...I'm off to pick which one I'd like to try for next month!

Box It Up with Gorgeous Stamps

Hello again,

Another sample from me today from the gorgeous Downton Abbey collection from Crafter's Companion.... so exciting!  You will just love the Triple CDrom that has crafty collections for all the characters 'above' stairs and 'below', and then an amazing collection of rubber stamps, dies and embossing folders that whether you like and watch Downton Abbey or not will be just perfect in your crafty collection

I have stamped the gorgeous border stamp from set's 3&4 of the Rubber Stamp sets on Create and Craft today (4 day deal) and used a repeated pattern to make this easel card topper for my gift box:

After I had created the topper I decided to colour the stamps with a graduated fading effect going up the card.  It's a great technique to do, just a few pens in the same colour family and tone can be used to work your way down to very pale.

My Top Tip would be to do the top palest flower and the very last flower at the bottom first, that way you will know how much to fade out so you achieve the effect you are after

Here's what I used:

Style: Easel Card Box Topper
Image: Downton Abbey Stamp set 3&4
(repeated pattern)
Spectrum Noir markers used:
BGR4, HB1, 2, 3; coloured dark fading out upwards
Materials:
Crafter’s Companion Black card
Neenah Solar White card
Downton Abbey CD coordinating papers & ribbons Disc 1
Collal All Purpose and Tacky glues

Ribbon, Bling and Pearl string from That Craft Place

And pics of the inside:

Top Tip for the shredded paper - I coloured up a white/ivory A4 sheet of handmade paper and coloured it roughly (didn't worry about gaps) using the chisel nib of one of my middle tone Spectrum Noir markers so it matched the colours on top.   I folded it up like a fan and then cut slither's (that's a fun word to say lol) to drop in the box

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you managed to catch the show's on Create and Craft to see the fabulous range demonstrated :D

hugs,

Sneak Peek of the new Fancy Edgeables...

Hello again,

The new Crafter's Companion fancy Edgeable dies launch at 12 noon today over on Create and Craft's Tool Shed hour make sure you watch or set it to record, you will just adore these dies!

Here is one I made for the show, using the dies to make a Tri Screen Card (and as it's me, I went a little bit mixed media on it coz I couldn't help myself lol)

Here's what I used to make it:

Style: Screen Card
Die'sire Fancy Edgeables, Victoriana
Crafters Companion Black card, Antique Gold gilding wax
Collal all purpose, red liner tape from Crafters Companion
Other materials: Graphic 45 Nouveau Paper 8x8 paper pad, lace, charms,

Emphemera, flowers

The true matt black card from Crafter's Companion Essentials range is perfect for makes like this one, it takes embossing and waxing so well and its 300gsm so it's a good construction weight.

Here's some more pics:

I hope you enjoyed looking around my make today and thank you so much for stopping by :D  I will have more to share soon, and don't forget the 12 noon show on Create and Craft.  You can always watch it live on the web too if the weather is fabulous for you today, I'm thinking cuppa, favourite garden chair and the laptop...laze in the sun watching the show :D

The theme is Layers, and I think I got there! lol

Hello again,

Layers is the theme of this times challenge over at the totally awesome That Craft Place Challenge Blog.  Now there's a theme I can get next too!

Lisa Horton and Danny have been so awesome since I joined their DT so I wanted to make something a little bit special, so let me know what you think :D

Here is my DT inspiration....Gift Card Tag Wallet

Front Cover of wallet

Open to first page of a tri fold wallet

Fully open showing the inside 2 pages

and of course you have to decorate the back to match!
I loved making this, I have a bit of love affair going on at the minute with designing new journal books, cards, albums and the like.  I love the idea that as papercrafters we can make so much more for our loved ones or to keep our memories than cards.  Smash books, Journalling have all taken off massively, so my little brain has been going ten to the dozen designing around this theme and how we can make 'snapshot' albums to share with friends a little piece of our lives.

Please remember to follow me :D  I'd love to add you to my regular visitors xxx

So, as this make is so complex, I have opened my very own YouTube channel!
Get me! I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing but its fun pressing all the buttons to see what happens lol

YouTube Video link

Thank you for visiting as always and here's the materials list.
ALL supplies can be purchased at That Craft Place FB Group or at the shop, details of the shop and website can be found HERE
Paper/card: Graphic 45 Home Sweet Home 8x8 paper pad and coordinating 6x6 solids paper pad, black card
Glue: Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Glue, red liner tape, Collal All Purpose Glue
Scoring: Crafters Companion Big Score with scoring tool
Ruler and pencil
Embellies: charms, mini frame (and an old necklace)

Happy Crafting everyone xxx
