We've gone all Steampunk!

Hello there,

Over on That Craft Place Blog we've gone all Steampunk for the challenge this fortnight and if you check out the Etsy Store you'll be able to find some absolutely awesome digital images to choose from to join in.

Here's my DT inspiration using Set Sail Steampunk Style

Steampunk always scares me just a little bit, I just love the style but I am in awe of some just inspiring Mixed Media artists out there that just blow me away with their creations that I feel a little tentative about approaching it myself!  So this took a week of thinking to put together as a result lol

Here's what I used to make it:

Style: Tent Fold A6

Theme: Steampunk

Spectrum Noir Markers:

Skin: TN3, FS9, 6, 4, 2

Hair: True Black, BGR2, 3, 5

I just love how the MDF and the ink bottle turned out, so I can see more of this type of embellishment coming your way lol

Two in one day!  Oh my, now you know how much I just adore these new dies :D

Leann Chivers will be on Create and Craft in the Tool Shed this lunchtime: 12noon 'till 2pm...launching the new Fancy Edgeable Die's.  We don't think they will last the distance, as they are just so gorgeous and versatile.

Brand New Button Box Fairy's at That Craft Place

Hello there,

You all know how I love new releases...its a thrill to see brand new images and even better to get to play with them!

I shared Tilly-Jayne from the new Button Box Fairy's    in an earlier post (you can find it HERE, she was named by me after my youngest!) so today, to kick start the new challenge over at That Craft Place Challenge Blog I'd like to share...

MIXIE

Oh my!  I love her :D

Here's the how's and what's:
Mixie Button Box Fairy was coloured in Copics, and cut out leaving a 2mm edge, I didn't cut into all the little spaces around her musical swish (because that's way to fussy) and here's a TOP TIP so you don't have to either!
Use a coordinating ink pad (I used Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink) with a cotton bud!  Yes I did say cotton bud...soak up some ink on the end of the cotton bud and sweep the edge of the image as you would with a large ink sponge, then very lightly in a circular motion begin to build colour in the white spaces.  Lightly does it because you can always add more but you can't take it away lol

The backing is Artisan by Graphic 45, I used the signature sheet and cut out all the elements I needed from ONE sheet of 8 x 8!  Just goes to show now versatile the papers are.
I wanted to use the door with her and so I cut out tiny flower details to edge it from the scraps! - don't throw your tiny bits of G45 till you've double checked to see if there is a tiny something you can cut out and add lol Its so much fun and a great sense of satisfaction!  (I may need to get out more lol)

The words are also from the same sheet, its the backing to the sheet and I layered the words to read from from to inside:
'If opportunity doesn't know, Build A Door!' 'Imagine Detail' 'Create Details' - my thought for the day :D
Another TOP TIP before I go...the edges of the birds have been treated to a little swipe of my black ink pad!  My cutting wasn't perfect and I wanted to make them stand out a little so edging with the ink pad not only covers an tiny imperfections it also adds depth :D
The final piece will fit into an A6 envelope because I cut off 2cms from the bottom before I layered the card to allow for the roof overhang :D

All supplies can be found at THAT CRAFT PLACE 
List: Kraft Card, Cosmic Shimmer Glue, sticky pearls, scissors, black card, Graphic 45 Artisan 8x8 paper pad, Pinflair Glue Gel, Distress ink, Black momento ink pad and time to cut :D

Sneek Peek anyone!

Rosey Hearts Inspiration....

Hello again,

I know, twice in one day!  I need a lay down! lol

This week I'm sharing a make using a darker image from Rosey Hearts, or at least that's how I interpreted it!  I had wanted to try a monochrome look again with my Copic's so this seemed the perfect image to do that with...I added just a splash of colour...hope you like it :D

As this was a fairly simple make, just lots of layering I won't bore you with a 'how to' this time, I'm sure you're all now doing a happy dance lol

So here's what I used:
Image: Dragon Girl coloured with Copic's; I used the E50's plus E49 on the girl to get the monochrome look
6x6 inch card blank
Backing papers - from The Works
Black card stock, buttons, string and bakers twine
See told you it was a simple make :D

It's a rocking good day!

I am super excited to bring you my DT inspiration for the Slinky Tart Blog today, just because I adore the image I chose to use and have no idea how I have not coloured her before!  My bad definitely...she is just gorgeous and a dream to colour!

So, as my DT inspiration, I present...

Cat Sixx

Cat Sixx in all her glory...she really is rockin it!

I really did use the scraps this time on the insert!  But it looked really cool!

Here's the how's and what's:
I coloured the image with my Copic alcohol markers (I promise I will start to write down the colours soon!  I am still colouring as a learning curve and change markers so much that it makes it harder to write down lol).
My backing papers are from Graphic 45 (oh my they are gorgeous to touch, and rich colours too).
I die cut with a Tonic scalloped squares die set, and started with the biggest and worked down the die's for the layers.
The background to the image, and randomly over the backing paper, I added Tim Holtz distress inks (Worn Lipstick and Broken China) using a make up sponge.
The sentiment is from Bee Crafty Stamps and is a part of their Banksy inspired range (its gorgeous!), stamped onto waste from the backing papers and then chopped up.  I have added some more appropriate words from an old thesaurus.
Lastly, paper-clips!  this time they are from the stationary range in Ikea (curtsey of my eldest daughters recent trip there).
