Quick and simple make...

Final time for tonight and as I'm back to work tomorrow I will not post again until mid-week (or the weekend if I am over estimating my juggling abilities).

Sometimes we just need a quick and simple card and this is one I came up with...

I cut a piece of stamping card to A6 and used it landscape.

I stamped the image from Inkylicious Dance in the rain in black momento ink (I used momento as I wasn't sure if I was going to add colour highlights when I stamped it and didn't want to risk my versafine running!), and then stamped the verse (the stamp comes with 3 different verses, great value as always from the Inkylicious team).

I then took my 0.1 micro pen in black and drew by hand some rain drops adding an little shadow in the black - I then added a touch of colour with my Graph'it Marker pens.

Added shadow at the bottom to show a hint of the ground..

Graph'it Marker pen colours - 9100, 9102 and 9105
Yes I know, I used my favourite grey colours again but when I was completing the Spring card and colouring in Tatty (see previous post) the colours were screaming raindrops to me!

As I mentioned I didn't have a rain drop stamp so I just doodled the rain drops on myself and I think they came out pretty well (even if I do say so myself!).

Final touch was to mat on to white card first to create a shadow layer and then I used another white piece of card but coloured the edge using the chisel end of my 9102 Graph'it Marker Pen so that the colours totally matched.

The final card is 5''x7'' and for a quick make I am quite pleased - let me know what you think too :)

Spring is in the air.....

Hello again,

Spring is really in the air and so I thought I'd join in with my next make...

The fabulous image is from Polka Doodles and is the new Tatty design, Tatty is lovely because it means that my colouring did not have to be spot on as she is 'tatty' :)

The image originally had an Easter Egg in her hand as is part of a free download curtesy of the lovely Polka Doodles team, please take a look at there site, there is some fabulous designs for you to play with.  I cut out a heart (free hand), coloured it with my markers and then using a craft knife made a slot along Tatty's hand to slot in the heart and hiding the Easter Egg :)

I printed the image and coloured her using my Graph'it Markers..

Tatty in her fabulous bunny suit hopping into Spring

Skin - 4120, 4110, 4175 and 3110 with a touch of 4145 for her cheeks
Hair - 3110, 3125, and 3150 (No deeper shadows needed as she has her bunny ears on)
Bunny suit - 9500, 9502 and 6505 (YES my beloved blue-greys again!) and 4145, 5110 and 5120 for the pink touches
Eyes - 7130 (but its just a touch)

When colouring I always start with the skin on the face and then the hair because if I make a mistake there then in the bin it goes and I haven't spent an age on the rest of the colouring.

Once coloured, I matted her onto a dark grey pearlescent card from my stash and then layed the backing with more FREE downloads from the lovely team at Polka Doodles
I used 'Wallflowers' download pack and the spots from the 'Easter bundle' of papers.
Both backing papers where layered onto the same dark grey card for continuity of design.

The message comes on the Tatty free download from Polka Doodles and I again matted this on the grey card.

Then the finishing touches from my stash - flowers and a ribbon bow and a little ladybird that I've had for ages and thought it fitted well.

Hope you like her :)

Hair - 4170 3170, 3180 and for the depth 3190

Polka Doodles Number It challenge.....

Another day off from work so putting pen to paper in a crafty way was how I spent a small child free afternoon :)

Polka Doodles challenge on there fabulous blog this week is Number It...a project containing numbers or sets of numbered items in its theme, so as I don't have any Birthdays approaching that I would dare put the number on!  I went with numbered items, and here's what I came up with....

Polka Doodles owl stamp - one of my fav's
The theme is 3's!
3 layers, 3 buttons and 3 butterflies :)

Again, I used my new Graph'it Markers to colour the owl - using my favourite greys in the series for the body of the owl; 9200, 9202 and 9203 - they have a fabulous blue tone to them that adds warmth to the piece...

Close up! (arrgg a scary thought when putting my very unproffessional colouring skills on a blog!)
You may notice the lack of black outline!  I decided to test my eyesight...no I meant colouring skills by using my alternate favourite Momento inkpad, Desert Sand, so that the outline blends in with the image instead of standing out...I love the result but it did mean I had to touch up his eyelashed with a black micron pen (0.1) and put his eyeliner back on!

The very back backing paper was made with a stamp from a couple of issues ago of Craft Stamper (the freebie) and then I added lace to the second layer to add texture (gotta love lace!).

The final set of 3 is the butterflies - a scrap of card left from trimming the owl, roughly stamped direct to paper with the pink versa magic inkpad used on the very back backing paper and then punched out 3 butterflies (with a final touch of 3 dots of perfect pearls on each).

I hope you all like it - and as a bonus it has dimension!"

Loving the new Graph'it alcohol marker pens

Afternoon all,

It is sunny outside and after a long walk in the woods with some good friends I thought I should post my first make on this new blog of mine.

I haven't used backing papers for a long time! I have instead spent a long time down the road of inking and distressing and was happy there; but then I watched Nikky Hall from Polka Doodles on Create and Craft one afternoon demonstrating the Graph'it marker pens and now I'm back firmly in the land of colouring and this meant getting out the stashed away papers and bits to mount my growing pile of creations!

The first one to share is this lovely image from Sherry Baldi's Besties digi images...fabulous images that scream colour me!

I used the following colours for the important bits!
Skin - 4120, 4110, 4170,4155 and 4145 for the cheeks
Hair - 1210, 4170 and 3110

Close up of the illustration

The good thing about Graph'it alcohol pens is there ability to blend, they make it so much easier to blend the tones together than my promarkers and they are a joy to work with.

The trousers and jacket are using Greys!
The Graph'it 92's are a fabulous green grey although more blue/grey to my eyes but blend so great as I think you can see, I have used 9200, 9202 and 9205.

I trimmed the image and using colours from the main design matted and layered them onto a 7"x7" card blank.  7"x7" is my new favourite size for cards, gives me the room of an A5 but I like the square shape, you can layer so much easier and I really like the versatility so if you haven't tried them give them a whirl.

Thank you for reading and another blog will be coming soon xx

Crafting is definitely a passion...a busy day turns into a busy week and then Friday arrives :)
Weekends in a busy world for us are all about time together and that usually means walking in the woods and you got it crafting!
My head is full of more ideas than I can possibly finish but when I stand back from a completed project I think wow I did that, and that buzz doesn't get old :)

Graph'it markers are my new toys and since making my first purchase I couldn't be happier :)
http://graphitmarkers.blogspot.co.uk is the place to go to see the design team do their thing.

I will post my first creations in a little while but for now, this is me...wife, mother (to 8 wonderful, imaginative awe inspiring children), colleague and crafter.   What defines me is all of that, touched by the people in my life, the world around me and a belief in the power of 'us'
