Presenting...Queen of Hearts

Hello again,

So happy to be showcasing this new release by Slinky Tart, Art by Tamara.  I had great fun trying out different hair combo's on this one but don't ask me which ones, because I got totally confused lol

Here she is:
A hand of cards just had to be done! lol

Now you see why I got all confused with the colour combo's!

Paper matched insert lining finishes off the design (Top Tip)

Phew!  It may have taken ages to get the colouring done but I am so happy with the finished look :D

Here's what I used and the how's:
Image: Queen of Hearts By Slinky Tart
Cardstock: 300gsm super smooth card for copics, black and red cardstock matted to create the backing; That Craft Place
She is coloured with Copic's 4 times!  Although I did know how I wanted to layer them so I cheated and only coloured what I needed too on the lower 3!
The sentiment was my own creation made on the pc and printed, matted and layered.
I added multi layered punched hearts to add a little extra detail and then lace and pearls seemed a must for the Queen of Hearts :D

Here's the close-ups:

Marci takes us into Spring!

Hello again,

Aud Sentiments Challenge theme this time is Use a Spring or Easter Sentiment and so its time for my mid-challenge reminder to inspire you to join in :D

The fabulous sponsor this time isGreat Impressions Rubber Stamp Co so please do check them out.  As I didn't have anything stocked by the sponsor I went my own way, but please do check them out, they offer some great stuff and the prize is awesome!

Here is my design...

Here's the how's:
I used Ballerina Marci by La La Land Crafts, I think she is discontinued but if you shop around you can still find her!
She is coloured in Copic's on super smooth card and then hand cut leaving a small border (I don't usually leave a border when I'm fussy cutting but as I wanted to mat her onto a similar colour I wanted her to stand out.
The papers used are from the gorgeous Craft Work Cards Botanical paper pad and I have matted them onto a 7inch square card blank (Top Tip: my fav thing to do as regular followers will know!  I cut down an 8x8 inch card blank to 7inch square so I had the extra room in the envelope for the flowers and any hangover!)
I created the mat in the centre using a Spellbinders die and chose to use it horizontally to add structure and I used Shabby Green Frantage to decorate it.
Now my fav bit lol the embellies!  I used my hot glue gun to twist the rose lace along the bottom of the card and a tiny bit on the top left for balance.  I then used coordinating flowers and pins in the gaps left by the rose lace!  And that's it :D
The supplies used above for this card can be found at That Craft Place and here's the links you need:

Singing in the Rain - it's a movie themed challenge...

Hello again,

It's challenge time over at That Craft Place Challenge Blog and the theme this time is Movie Inspired!

Oh my, don't know why but I did stress over this one!  Then it dawned on me I had already coloured the perfect image that screamed a classic film!  So here's Whatever The Weather featuring the gorgeous Sugar and Spice by That Craft Place (Etsy Shop)...

Sugar and Spice - Whatever The Weather

Match the insert papers...
Here's the what and how's:
Image: Whatever The Weather by That Craft Place, click the name to take you to the Etsy Digi Store;  Coloured with Graph'it Marker Pens this time on 300gsm super smooth card from That Craft Place
Papers and stuff: All the brands used are available from That Craft Place shop; papers are Papermania, used for the die cuts and the insert too; Die's used are Di'sire and I've added flowers and lace trims.  The sentiment is an old one from Craftwork Cards.
Top Tip: layer lace and trim over one another, adding both may seem a waste but gives added detail to your finished project :D Also, check out stationary shops for funky paper clips, its often cheaper than some of the named crafty brands!

Here's the close ups:
The theme is 'movie inspired' and so it's Singing in the Rain for this gorgeous image...

Second inspirational post for today...Jungle Party anyone!

Hello again,

Phew, this is the second of two inspirational posts from me today using the glorious images by Tamara at Slinky Tart
If you missed the first post just scroll back down to the post before this one...its a steampunk make and you won't want to miss it!

For this one, I've used one of my all time fav's from Slinky Tart - she's called Better than Tarzan! and I think she is just delicious!

Jungle Party!  using the gorgeous image, Better than Tarzan!

Matching insert; the papers are My Minds Eye
Here's the how and what:
Image: Better than Tarzan by Slinky Tart
Papers and stuff: the papers are My Minds Eye (Wildflower) and I cut out the birds from the papers!  Then I used a Di'sire Ivy Die to cut out the leaves also using the MME paper's.  I then used Rangers Distress Stickles to add texture to the leaves and a little around the card and then used a lazer cut word also covered in stickles.  All of this and more can be found at That Craft Place shop (remember they have a FB shop too!)
Oh and I have coloured her with my Copic's, I'm in a green phase I think! lol  The main pens used were G95, G 97 and G99
Top Tip: I used the warm grey's around the outside of the image, starting with W5 close to the image, then blending in W3 (best to do this twice to make sure you get the line out, I missed a bit at the top! oops) and then finally blending out with W1 to fade.  It gives a really soft backing to the image and works with most colours if you just experiment on scrap to get the shades right first x

Here's the close ups - lots!  I wanted to show the depth from just cutting the papers!:

Multi layer punched butterflies to add dimension - another Top Tip lol

Distress Stickles really do add another texture!

Well, I hope you liked this one and thank you so much for stopping by.  Remember to click to follow my blog so you don't miss the next inspiration post :D

First of two inspiration designs...Steampunk first!

Hello again,

It's time to start our regular inspiration post for Slinky Tart, YAY!  I love being able to play with these totally awesome images, Tamara is so clever :D

As many of you know, Tamara closed The Stamping Chef at the end of 2014 and in January 2015 she launched her new shop and look and you can find all the images so far HERE

This is the first of two posts today, showcasing two different images by Slinky Tart....so, here is The Big Tease.  I love this one as it so easily lends itself to steampunk, which I adore!

The Big Tease

Matching insert
Before I waffle on...make sure you drop over to the main inspiration blog to check out the rest of the design teams makes, they are all so awesome you won't want to miss it.
You can find them here - http://slinkytart.com/Blog/

Here's what I used:
Image: The Big Tease
Papers: I used a combination of papers, from retired set from The Stamping Chef and Michele R Designs to create a steampunk backing and insert
Embellies: You know me....junk!  This time it really is lol!  The black rose lace is off an old dress, the silver bits are from an old necklace (got to love teenagers and cheap jewellery!) and some string!
Top Tips: I distressed the edges to add to the aged look, use scissors if you don't have the tool, it works just as well.  On the image I used Debbie Moore's Metal Magic, its just amazing stuff and melts from underneath with the heat gun...check it out you won't regret it :D

Here's the close ups:

Junk jewellery can look amazing, hot glue gun and tweezers are used to stick it down...metal gets HOT!

Just pile it up!  Random works best!

Exciting....I am Guest Designer and it's for my Sister's Birthday!

Hello again,

I am so pleased to have been asked by Mi Ran to Guest DT for this times challenge...the theme is anything goes and you can check out the full design teams makes on the Art by MiRan Challenge Blog

As this was a special one for me (I adore Mi Ran's images), I decided to make the project special too.

My make is for my big Sister, I know I shared a chalk board I made for her recently too but this one is for her Birthday.  Some of you know that she's not had the best of times recently and I do love her so much that I decided to make her a frame for her Birthday (it was the 2nd but we have delayed it as she was poorly in hospital).  If you're reading this Brenda, then know that I love you more than you know and I am always, always here for you xxx

So here is my GDT project:

Here's what I used and how:
Image: Punkie Pattie by Art by MiRan; I chose her because my big Sis is a bit of a rebel, a bit of a rocker and loves to shock, this is so her (except perhaps the innocent look on her face lol)
Coloured: I used my Copic's and the purple combo is V04, V06, V09 and E49.  Purple because it's my Sister's fav colour and I am totally sure she would have her hair this colour if she could!
I have coloured onto super smooth card from That Craft Place
Embellies: Honestly...the black ribbon roses are from an old dress of my daughters!  See, my ongoing Top Tip, never throw something away on day one...leave it for a day to see if you can think of a way to use it in your crafting! lol.
I love, as regulars to my blog will know, to build what I call 'junk piles' with my embellies.  They are like little 'junk drifts' on my makes!  So I adhered the ribbon down first with hot glue then grabbed all sorts of embellies, bits of an old necklace and an MDF birdcage (that I covered in gold Pinflair Buff It first) and glued then all in place.
The frame is an 8x8 inch shadow box frame from Wilkinson's (a UK store for home stuff and all sorts of stuff relatively cheap), it was already painted white so I left it that way; I really wanted the image to stand out on this one.
Sentiment: I chose this one for my Sister and its from Create with TLC.  If you haven't checked out her blog yet go have a look...she offers free sentiments and seriously they are just so beautiful xxx

So that's it, my GDT make for the Art by MiRan Challenge Blog...
Here's the close ups:

Thank you so much for stopping by and I really do appreciate each comment you leave :D  Please don't forget to follow my blog for my next crafty project.
